One thing I’ve gotten pretty good at the last few years, is putting myself together… really fast.  Maybe it’s a gift, I don’t know, but today I’m showing you my favorites tricks to tricking people into thinking you’re really, really good looking.  (remember zoolander?)

First of all, let’s chat school drop offs.  No one wants to get ready that early in the morning.  You’re busy getting the kids breakfast, you’re busy fighting about how she can’t wear princess dresses to school (is that only me?), you’re barely awake enough to make your morning coffee.  I hear ya, sister.  I mentioned a couple weeks ago that a peacoat and scarf was the ultimate preschool drop-off trick, and today I’m showing you how it’s done.

This is me fresh in the morning, I splash some tinted moisturizer on my face, cover my sleepy eyes (or yesterdays make-up.. let’s be honest) with the biggest pair of sunnies I can find, embrace my went-to-bed-wet hair, throw on a coat and scarf and watch out Hollywood!  5 minutes and you’re out the door.

Another favorite trick to looking put together is boots.  Boots tell everyone you spent a ton of time and money on your look for the day.  I don’t know why, I don’t know how, but i’m telling you the truth, y’all!  I recommend investing in a great pair of boots that will last you a long time.  Boots are timeless and they look great with pretty much anything.  I rarely recommend spending the big bucks on anything, but boots are something I think you can benefit from the splurge.  (these are Steve Madden from a few years ago bought in spring for 75% off! Spring is the best time to buy expensive boots.  Target also has some great boots for cheaper this year too)
That being said, boots are my favorite go-to for an every day out and about look.  Pair that with a scarf and consider yourself the trickiest fashionista in town.

For this look, I simply put on a white tee and a pair of skinny jeans.  Super plain.  But with the boots and scarf, I took my outfit from drab to fab in like 2 minutes.  I also almost always sport the wavy tresses these days.  If you have long-ish hair, I recommend taking advantage of the natural/messy look that’s in style right now.  Bliss for a mom in a hurry!

And what about those wash your hair days and you just simply do not have the time for that today?  Well friend, you’ve come to the right place.  What do you need for people not to notice you have greasy hair?  A distraction.  What is the best type of distraction that screams fabulosity?  RED LIPS.

Red lips are the ultimate trump card in trickery.  Throw that greasy mane into a bun and rock the red lips for the day.  For this particular look, I had on a super casual outfit and still, the red lips were the perfect touch.  This look took me about 10 minutes.

Do you think you can’t do red lips?  Believe me, sister, I feel the same way.  I think 90% of sporting red lips is just the confidence to do it.  Believe in yourself!  If you’re new to red lips, this is a great set of rules to follow: Maskcara’s 6 Rules for Rocking Red.

Pair any of these looks together and you’ve got my entire style in a nutshell.
