My list of things that need to be done this week are rather extraordinary. Just the normal errands, meal planning, grocery shopping, date night, laundry, home projects, etc. that has gone overdue and is piling up all at the same time.
Last night as I was laying in bed I realized I have not purchased a single thing for this baby. And not only that, I don’t even know where to begin. I do have some clothes saved from the girls, along with some blankets and keepsakes, but I pretty much got rid of all my baby stuff after Stella was through with it. I still need a carseat, a crib, a bouncy seat/swing/whatever else they make these days, a high chair, a stroller… With my first baby I think we tried to plan for one of everything and this time around I would like to get as minimal as possible.
So for all you baby experts, what were your absolute must-have baby items? What was worth the splurge, and what could you have lived without? Being that my last pregnancy was almost 4 years ago, I know there’s a whole new world of baby gear that I haven’t yet experienced.
I figure since I’m half way through this pregnancy, now might be a good time to get a game plan. 😉
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Alexis
I feel like I have been in baby land for the past five years:) I like minimal too! Some of my favorites for baby were the blooming bath. It saved my bath multiple times. I also loved these blankets. http://www.adenandanais.com/shop/itemdisplay.aspx?ID=87 Cloth diapers were a must for me:) Other than that some clothes, carseat, crib, and a swing were all I used. I didn’t even use a changing table. For me I LOVED the bamboobies reusable nursing pads. They are so soft and wonderful. The overnight ones were the best for overnight. I didn’t leak everywhere.

Super good suggestions, thanks Alexis! I’ll be checking out the nursing pads asap!

With Addie we got the rock n play sleeper, LOVED it!! We also got the matching fisher price snugabunny bouncer, AWESOME! Way better than the boppy one we had with C and B! Those are my two must haves. We didn’t use the pack n play bassinet at all with her because of the rock n play! Also I would say the swing isn’t worth it, we hardly have used ours at all (still have the same one!) also I am a graco infant seat fan through and through (we still have the one from Camden, and it’s still in new condition and hasn’t expired yet) so those would be my suggestions, bouncer, rock n play, skip the bassinet and swing!

Does the rock n play go in place of a bassinet or a bouncer/swing? Do they sleep in it? If so, how hard is it to get them out of it? 😉
Danielle
The rock n plays are awesome! And my kids loved loved the swing it was my saving grace but I think that it all depends on the baby. My kids weren’t fans of the bouncer for very long so I think I could have done without. But they do have the swing and bouncer combos now which are kinda cool. I definitley think the rock and plays are the best newish things out there though.

Thanks, Danielle! My other two weren’t swing fans, but I think if we would have had a fancy one that swung both ways, they would have done better. I’ll definitely be getting the rock n play though with all the recommendations!

I’m about to have baby #3 as well! Since I know I’ll be chasing my older two around, I have a feeling I’m going to get a TON of use out of my ergo baby carrier! Super comfy for baby wearing!
Cass Miller
congrats on baby #3! The one and only thing I’ve looked into is a carrier! I wore my last two quite a bit and plan on wearing this one even more. I have heard so many good things about the ergo. I have the moby, k’tan and some other slings and I would really like a sakura bloom this go round, but I’m still definitely checking out the ergo!

Get the rock and play! Also we have a fisher price booster seat instead of a high chair, much easier to clean. The blankets by Adian and Anais are large enough to swaddler, warm/cool for the baby and make great blankets as a toddler. I love all the things that Adian and Anais make. For baby wearing, I love the ergo, but I also liked the k’tan, that was awesome. and get a plug in swing.

Loving all the rock n play recommendations! I wouldn’t have even thought about that. I have a k’tan and love it, and plan to wear this baby a lot. I’ve been looking into the sakura bloom and the ergo.. I’ll have to decide! 😀 My babies have all been major swaddlers, so the aden and anais blankets will definitely make my must-have list! Thanks for the suggestions!!

I have the mint maxi cosi foray stroller for sale (movin on to the double) I would separate with for a deal (or photo trade). Its the best $$$ I ever spent. Just sayin!
