Stella got her bike last Christmas from Santa.  She loves it, but has not been able to figure out the pedals!  I have tried and tried and tried to show her, Harlo has tried to help her, Brady has tried.  She just couldn’t quite grasp the full circle motion and always wanted to go back-forth-back-forth with her feet.  She usually gets frustrated with it and tries to talk someone (Harlo) into pushing her around for a little while until she gets bored… Or Harlo wants to get back to her bike and refuses to push any longer.

Well, the other day as we were sitting on the front porch enjoying the beautiful weather, Stella comes riding out of the garage.  “I’m doing it mom!” she said as she rode down the driveway like she’d been riding for months.  It all the sudden clicked for her – we couldn’t be more excited!  For the last few days we have done little else than riding bikes in the driveway.

It’s been such a fun milestone.  I think when you’re in the middle of baby and toddler-hood, it’s hard to look outside and see what life will be like just past that hump.  I have loved spending my afternoons laying on the grass or sitting on the porch and watching my girls ride round and round and round.  Pretty soon they’ll both be good enough to ride around the neighborhood while I push the baby sis in a stroller.  I love being a mother and somehow it seems to just get better and better.
