A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked about family traditions as she was looking to add some more for her family.  I gave her a quick list that came to my mind and realized something…  I love traditions.  My family has quite a list of traditions now, and I feel like we’re adding more all the time.  I think these family traditions will bless our family with closeness and sweet memories over the years.  I hope my girls will remember their mother always trying to celebrate life – even for no reason at all.  I am especially grateful for the life I have been blessed with.

Back to traditions though.  This weekend is one of my favorite traditions of the year.  During the October General Conference, my little (growing) family heads up to the family cabin on the most beautiful property on the mountain.  It is quiet and peaceful and calm.  Nana takes the best care of us and feeds us yummy food all weekend and we sit and listen to the words of our prophet and church leaders about important topics of the world.  Some include raising a family, marriage, motherhood, discipleship and so on.  This weekend always gives me such clarity and purpose.  It affirms that what we are doing in our life is right, even when we seem peculiar to others who choose differently.  Maybe it’s getting away from the world into the quiet, maybe it’s the conference, maybe it’s the beautiful changing leaves of fall.  Probably a mix of all of those things, but my heart is full and my eyes are clear.

General Conference is always just what I need.  I loved so many of the talks, but hands down, the one that spoke to me most was Elder Holland’s.  You can listen to all of the conference talks HERE.  I’ll link to Elder Holland’s when it becomes available and I’ll definitely be posting more about it.

If you don’t know about General Conference, I would encourage you to listen! See for yourself.  The messages are so divinely inspired and are delivered with such love.  You can feel the truth in the words spoken.  It’s a really neat experience.

This is just one of our yearly traditions that help thread together a beautiful life.  Here are some snippets from our traditional fall conference weekend.
